Region 88 Programs

In addition to regular season soccer, AYSO Region 88 offers a wide array of special programs so that “everyone plays.” These programs include opportunities for every player to improve his or her skills, opportunities for motivated, talented players to play more and improve their skills in a competitive environment, and opportunities for players with physical, mental, and developmental challenges to play soccer.

VIP (Very Important Person)

The AYSO VIP Program provides a quality soccer experience for children – and adults – whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams. (Details)

Short-Sided Games

Short-sided soccer is about developing the hearts and minds of young soccer players at their level. It’s for AYSO coaches, referees, administrators, spectators, and anyone else concerned with the development our youth. (Details)

Sportsmanship

One of the main principles of AYSO, as shown above, is Good Sportsmanship. This enbodies all that we do, whether it is a parent, a coach, or player, a referee or any other person involved with our region. (Details)

Kids Zone & Parent Pledge

Kids Zone is a dynamic program targeted to eliminate negative sideline behavior. It is aimed toward producing a thoroughly positive impact on everyone involved in youth soccer. (Details)

Safe Haven

To protect our volunteers and players, this program introduces a more extensive registration and certification of our key volunteers who work most closely with the children; coaches, board members, team parents, referees. (Details)

Under-5 Jamboree

A new fun program setup to teach our youngest players the basics of soccer, without the pressures of the adult game. (Details)

Leo Nedeff Memorial Tournament

Glendale’s 1st tournament, named in honor of the Region’s greatest referee. (Details)

IQ (Imporve Quality)

The focus of this program is to create realistic goals and means to improving the quality of the soccer program being offered to the participants, consistent with AYSO philosophy. (Details)

Spring Season & Winter League

This is an additional short season (beyond the regular season) that may take place in the off-season to give players more opportunity to play soccer. See the Home Page or Team Zone pages to see if the season is being offered this year.

All-Star Season & Play-Through Teams

This is an extended part of the regular season usually run from January to March.

Uniform Recycling

The collection of used but good quality uniforms to give to soccer leagues who may not have the resources for uniforms.

Field Monitor

This is new program designed to give constructive input for coach’s, referees and parents to give the ultimate experience to the players.

Coaching Mentor

This program is designed to give coaches additional mentoring through extra clinics, training sessions and field observation & critique.

PRO (Player Referee Organization)

It is the standard name given to AYSO Referee programs geared towards kids 18 years old and younger learning to become a youth referee (Details)

Fundraising

Throughout the year, various programs are offered with proceeds used for special needs such as coaching or player, field development, etc. Please check the Home Page regularly.
