AYSO's Playground program is designed to introduce players to the game in a fun, pressure-free environment while focusing on improving fundamental motor skills (FMS) through age-appropriate activities, giving players a foundation for success in any sport.

The U4 Playground program uses group activities that are soccer theme-related. Players will hop, skip, jump, run, throw, balance, kick and play.

Program Highlights

• The U4 Program is offered within the Fall and Spring programs
• Two (2) separate afternoon sessions are offered on Saturday for six (6) weeks
• Sessions are typically played at Rosemont Middle School (lower field)
• There are no sessions on Sunday and no practices during the week
  
• Parent/guardian participation is requested. (You will have fun!)

Playground Objectives

• Develop motor skills that will lead into moves fundamental to the game of soccer
  
• Use soccer as the teaching thread
• Allow young players to enjoy the activities freely
• Application of the six AYSO philosophies

Each week our Playground will have a different theme. Some examples are as follows:

Week 1: The AYSO Zoo
Week 2: An AYSO Fairytale
Week 3: The AYSO Circus
Week 4: Under the Sea
Week 5: AYSO in Space
Week 6: The AYSO Games

There will be two sessions every Saturday, typically in the afternoon. Parents may request a session time that works for your family's schedule. Priority is given to those who volunteer and to those who sign up earliest.

TEAMS
Your child will be on a team with 2 certified coaches/playground leaders assigned to them. Those teams will be formed in the week before we start. If there are any children that would like to play on the same team, please reply to this email and give us the name of both children. We will always place buddies and family together because it's just more fun that way.

Please consider volunteering to guarantee your child a place on a team. Team placement is based on the number of head coaches who volunteer. Anyone (age 18 or over) can be a coach and no past experience is needed. Please see our Volunteer Page for details or email [email protected] for more information.
